Dear Fellow Scouters,
Starting this spring,
the Cub Scouting program
will be available to
full families in the
Lake Erie Council! After
extensive surveys and
studies, the Boy Scouts
of America’s
volunteer-led board of
directors unanimously
approved a plan to
welcome girls and young
women into
all Scouting programs
and has
posted information about
the expanded
opportunities for Family
Scouting on a new family
Scouting page.
The family Scouting page
provides several
resources, including a
helpful fact
sheet that
explains the program
levels and a Frequently
Asked Questions document.
Officially welcoming
girls into Cub Scouts
also means we welcome
them to join us for
outdoor fun and
excitement at one of our
12 outdoor adventure
camps this summer! These
new week-long daytime
adventures will feature
activities including
STEM and Science
(chemistry, space
exploration, animal
study and care), Archery
and BB target
instruction, Climbing
and Parkour, Lego
projects and leather
craft, Wilderness
Adventures with camping
and navigation skills,
woods tools and fire
skills and Fitness
including Yoga,
Tumbling, Gaga and Zumba!
In the coming weeks and
months ahead, we will be
working with our
existing charter
partners and units who
wish to incorporate
family scouting as well
as new partners who are
anxious to become part
of our movement.
To that end, we are
forming an interest list
of people to share
information with and to
ask questions of, as our
plans develop.

conversation, please
